Measuring principle
As in all DIGI SENS products, a vibrating-wire sensor is used to convert force into an electrical signal. This patented element is able to generate directly a digital output signal, which brings big advantages in accuracy, immunity to interference and electronic signal processing.
Mechanical construction
Type SA load cells consist of a guide plate of high-tensile steel and the KS vibrating-wire transducer.
Thanks to the guide plate, torsion forces due to eccentrically applied loads are filtered out and complicated bearing pad constructions, designed to prevent stresses, become superfluous. This is particularly important in lorries with a flexible chassis and often a stiff superstructure.
Signal processing
The data specific to the load cell are recorded in a built-in memory. No adjustment whatsoever is necessary after commissioning or when a load cell is replaced.
A 5V TTL output signal is available. The DIGI SENS "TARGO” computer is to be recommended as a control unit and for signal processing. It is designed for up to eight load cells and can combine the measured values from the different cells in real time. The signals from the four SA load cells are added, then divided by the two signals from the BJ inclination cells, in order to compensate the tilt.
