Weighwedge
General
As in all DIGI SENS load measuring cells, an oscillating-wire transducer converts the force/load into an electrical signal. This patented element is able to deliver a signal which can be directly processed. The calibration data is stored in the load cell electronics.
Applications
Weighwedge is designed to improve the leveling process of machine tools. It can be used for:
- test stand
- levelling of machine tools during installation process
- monitoring the ma- chine during its entire life cycle
Description
A DIGI SENS load cell is mounted on a precision wedge measuring the force applying on it.
Using DIGI SENS vibrating wire technology instead of the strain gauge means having a simple mechanic- al mounting combined with a very accurate measurement. This technology also offers an extremely high resolution. Deformations of fractions of μm can be measured.
The DIGI SENS technology also stands for a very good long-term stability. As no organic material is involved in the measurement chain, creeping or other influence are reduced to minimum. The precision wedge delivers a 5 V TTL frequency signal, proportional to the load measured. This frequency signal is easy to transmit, immune to perturbations and can be treated directly by any processor. For processing and transmission of the signal, as well as for other more complex measuring and control mode functions, DIGI SENS offers dedicated electronic and software.
Fit and function
The precision wedge is delivered ready to use. The result is a precision system with outstanding measuring precision. The calibration data of the load cell are stored in a built-in memory. No adjustment whatsoever is required either at commissioning or when a load cell is replaced.
The mechanical property of the precision wedge remains unchanged by the integration of the measuring system.
